Beach Beauty To Miss Met

Thursday, 16th January 2014

South African trainer Dennis Drier has confirmed that star mare Beach Beauty (Dynasty-Sun Coast, by Capture Him) will contest the Gr1 Majorca Stakes (1600m) at the end of the month, leaving Master Of My Fate as his sole runner in the Gr1 J&B Met, reports goldcircle.co.za. Beach Beauty confirmed her status as the South Africa's pre-eminent racemare when successfully defending her title in the Gr1 Paddock Stakes at Kenilworth on Saturday. The diminutive 6YO daughter of top stallion Dynasty deployed her trademark finishing burst to storm home for a 1.25-lengths win over Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner In The Fast Lane and stable-mate Jet Aglow. The victory was her third at Gr1 level, after landing last year's edition of the Paddock Stakes and the Garden Province Stakes in July. Master Of My Fate (Jet Master-Promisefrommyheart, by Elliodor) put the stable on the feature race board two races earlier when winning the Gr2 Peninsula Handicap under stable jockey Sean Cormack. The stakes victory was the second consecutive black-type triumph for the rising star of South African racing after winning the Gr2 Premier Trophy at Kenilworth in December. Such is the level of respect that the 4YO commands (he has won 6 of his 7 starts), that he is now pressing Jackson for favouritism for the Gr1 J&B Met at Kenilworth on 1 February.
