World Class Catalogue For National Yearling Sale
South Africa's oldest and most successful yearling sale, the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, has attracted an exciting list of entries for its 2014 sale which will take place in Germiston on 27 & 28 April. The National Sale has proven to be the number one source of elite equine talent in recent years, with many of its graduates training on to become Gr1 winners and even Equus Champions. Recent star graduates include Equus Champions such as Princess Victoria (Champion 2YO and Champion 3YO Filly), Heavy Metal (Champion Middle Distance Horse), Along Came Polly (Champion 2YO Filly), All Is Secret (Champion 2YO Filly), Past Master (Champion Older Male), Vercingetorix (Champion 3YO Colt), as well as globetrotting sprint sensation Shea Shea, winner of the 2013 Gr1 Al Quoz Sprint. The quality of the entries received thus far for the National Sale suggest this year's catalogue will be exceptionally strong, with yearlings by the best domestic and international sires. All of South Africa's current leading active sires are well represented. The likes of Captain Al, Dynasty, Fort Wood, Judpot, Kahal, Silvano and Var, as well as the late, great Western Winter, all have top quality drafts entered for the sale. The National Sale also regularly features yearlings on offer by some of the world's leading sires and this year looks like being no exception, with youngsters by reigning Champion Australian Sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill), Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat), High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells), and Medaglia D'Oro (El Prado). There are also relations to 25 Gr1 winners such as All Is Secret (half-brother by Jay Peg), Contador (half-sister by Silvano), Ebony Flyer and Captain's Lover (half-brother by Western Winter), Forest Indigo (half-sister by Captain Al), Heavy Metal (half-brother by Jay Peg), In The Fast Lane and Let's Rock 'N Roll (a Western Winter half-brother), and exciting young sire Seventh Rock (Medaglia D'Oro half-sister).
