Nathaniel Sires First Foal

Wednesday, 15th January 2014

The first foal of multiple Gr1-winner Nathaniel (Galileo-Magnificient Style, by Silver Hawk) was born at Waddesdon Stud in the UK on Saturday night, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. The foal, a colt, is from the Pivotal mare Liel, a daughter of 2004 Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Magical Romance. "He's a really good-looking chap who weighed in at a solid 120 pounds," said Waddesdon's Stud Groom Nicholas Blades. "He's very like his father; extremely correct and very attractively marked. If the other mares we have in foal to him produce foals like him, we'll be very happy." Nathaniel, who himself was raised at Waddesdon Stud, part of the Rothschild family's estate, won the 2011 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Gr1 Eclipse Stakes. He retired with a third to the mighty Frankel in the Gr1 Champion Stakes at Ascot in October 2012.
