First European Foal For Helmet

Tuesday, 14th January 2014

The first reported northern hemisphere foal of Gr1-winning Australian galloper and Darley sire Helmet was born at Skara Stud in Ireland on Saturday, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. The bay colt was described by his breeder Derek Gibbons as having very good bone and an attractive head. The colt is the second foal for his dam Supreme Seductress, a Montjeu half-sister to Gr1 Oaks D'Italia winner and Moyglare Stud Stakes third Menhoubah. Helmet, a three-time Gr1 winner in Australia of the Caulfield Guineas, ATC Champagne Stakes & ATC Sires Produce Stakes, stood his first European season at Kildangan Stud in 2013. This year he has joined his sire Exceed And Excel at Darley's flagship farm in Newmarket, Dalham Hall Stud, where he will stand for a fee of £8,000. From the unraced Singspiel mare Accessories, Helmet is a three-quarter brother to dual Gr1 winner Epaulette (Commands), and a half-brother to Gr3 winner & Gr1 Australian Guineas runner-up Bullbars (Elusive Quality).
