Johannesburg Adds US Black-Type

At Belmont Park in the US, former shuttler & champion 2YO Johannesburg (Hennessy-Myth, by Ogygian) added a black-type success when 6YO entire Strapping Groom (Johannesburg-Something Silver, by Silver Deputy) scored a 3.5-lengths victory for trainer David Jacobson in the US$100,000 Listed Lion Cavern Stakes (6.5 furlongs) for 3YOs+, over 4YO gelding Hardened Wildcat (Hard Spun-Wild Snitch, by Forest Wildcat) & 5YO entire Leave Of Absence (Harlan's Holiday-Danseur Chaud, by Joyeux Danseur). Earning his first stakes win, Strapping Groom took his record to 6 wins & 6 placings (including runners-up in the Listed Hansel Stakes at Turfway & Listed Fred Cappy Capossela Stakes at Aqueduct) from 19 starts.
