Dawn Approach To Challenge Pure Miler Perception

Friday, 28th June 2013

Last season's unbeaten UK 2YO & this season's best 3YO miler colt Dawn Approach (New Approach-Hymn of the Dawn, by Phone Trick) is expected to step up in distance to challenge for the Gr1 Juddmonte International on August 21 over 2000m, reports sportinglife.com. The brilliant miler, trained by Jim Bolger, has had only one attempt at a longer distance when he overraced and failed in the Gr1 Epsom Derby (over 2400m). The boom colt is one of 35 early entries for the Juddmonte International, with other entries including Derby hero Ruler of the World (carded for tomorrow's Gr1 Irish Derby – see below item), St Nicholas Abbey, Snow Fairy and Toronado, who was second to Dawn Approach in the Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Dawn Approach (owned equally by breeder-trainer Bolger & Sheikh Mohammed) currently boasts 8 wins (also including this year's Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes, Gr1 English 2,000 Guineas, plus last season's Gr1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket & Gr1 National Stakes at The Curragh) from 9 starts for £786,419 earnings.
