Full-Brother To Gr2 Winner In WA Debut

Thursday, 27th June 2013

Following a trio of stakes wins for Scenic Lodge's Gr1 VRC Derby winning son Blackfriars (Danehill-Kensington Gardens, by Grosvenor) in June (Kerrific in the Gr3 Belmont Sprint; Black Tycoon in the Gr3 Hyperion Stakes & 3YO filly Summah's Touch in last Saturday's Listed Belmont Guineas), yet another well-bred son is set to make his debut today at Northam in the William Chidlow Maiden Plate (1400m). Ubhejane (Blackfriars-Voltage Pak, by Carry a Smile) was a $120,000 purchase from the 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale draft of Durham Lodge, and will don the colours made famous by an array of Gr1 performers including Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Doriemus. Ubhejane is a year younger full-brother to Gr2 Western Australian Derby winner Rohan. The mating has also produced stakes placegetters Wynyard Hill (dam of Listed Gimcrack Stakes winner Darlington Abbey (by Stratum)) and Dark General. Second dam Ever Ready was a dual Gr2 winner of the Western Australian Guineas and Chirnside Stakes at Caulfield.
