1,800-Plus NSW Horses Nominated For Long Weekend
Racing NSW reported yesterday that more than 1,800 horses were nominated by trainers for races between Friday and the public holiday Monday, creating quite a challenge for handicappers to weight each runner. Racing NSW's general manager-regulatory Keith Bulloch said, "The large number of nominees for upcoming race meetings is a great indication of the strength of racing in New South Wales. There were two race meetings called off last week at Wagga and Lismore and some other wet track scratchings would have contributed to the high number of nominations. But we haven't seen this many horses entered in such a short time frame for quite a while and it shows the confidence of owners and trainers in racing in this State. It has kept our handicapping team extremely busy."
