Quintessential Wins Gr2 Eagle Farm Cup

At Eagle Farm, NZ-based Gr3-winning & Gr1-placed stallion Fast 'n' Famous (Redoute's Choice-Zalinda, by Zabeel) added a group success when 4YO mare Quintessential (Fast 'n' Famous-Florette, by Sword Dance) scored by a short head for trainer John Sargent in the $250,000 Gr2 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) for 3YO+, over 7YO gelding Manighar (Linamix-Mintly Fresh, by Rubiano) & 8YO entire Voila Ici (Daylami-Far Hope, by Barathea). Quintessential (a NZ$70,000 yearling consigned by Trelawney Stud at the 2010 NZB Select Sale at Karaka) took her record to 6 wins (also including the Gr1 Queensland Oaks in June 2012, 2013's Gr3 Chairman's Handicap & Gr3 Desert Gold Stakes over 1600m at Trentham) and 7 placings (including the Gr2 Travis Stakes over 2000m at Te Rapa in NZ, 2012's Gr1 Queensland Derby, Gr1 NZ Oaks over 2400m at Trentham & Gr3 Lowland Stakes over 2100m at Hastings, plus February's NZ Gr2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic over 2000m at Te Rapa) from 21 starts for $709,309 earnings.
