Thorn Park Euthanased At Windsor Park
In a devastating blow for the New Zealand thoroughbred industry, Champion Sire Thorn Park (Spinning World-Joy, by Bluebird) has been euthanased, reports theinformant.co.nz. Some 3 months after contracting lamanitis, Windsor Park was left with little choice but to put the 13-year-old stallion down. Steve Till, Windsor Park's general manager, commented: "We're all gutted after having been in such a battle... It's not the outcome we were trying so much to achieve but you can't write the script in matters such as this." The youngest sire since Zabeel to claim a New Zealand Sires Premiership, Thorn Park's best progeny include the Gr1 winners Ocean Park, Jimmy Choux, Veyron, The Last Stand & Norzita. He will be represented by 26 yearlings at next month's NZB Karaka Premier & Classic sessions.
