Hennessy Adds US Black-Type

In the US, deceased Gr1-winning former shuttler Hennessy (Storm Cat-Island Kitty, by Hawaii) added US black-type success when favoured 5YO mare Irish Gypsy (Hennessy-Rayelle, by Relaunch) notched her 2nd successive stakes win with a 1.25-lengths victory in the US$76,000 Listed Desert Stormer Handicap (6 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Hollywood Park in California. Irish Gypsy (ridden by Martin Garcia for trainer Bob Baffert) defeated 4YO mare Warren’s Blossom (Extra-Past 'n Present, by Present Value) & fellow 5YO mare Fund Raiser (Harlan's Holiday-Zealous Folia, by Unreal Zeal). Irish Gypsy (a US$120,000 yearling at the 2007 Keeneland September Sale) took her record to 5 wins (also including May’s Listed Valid Expectations Stakes over 6 furlongs at Lone Star Park) & 5 placings (including May’s Listed Time To Leave Stakes over 5 furlongs at Hollywood Park & 2010’s Listed California State Fair Sprint Stakes over 6 furlongs at Sacramento) from 13 starts for US$239,420 earnings.
