1st Stakes Winner For Iceman

Friday, 10th June 2011

Also in France overnight, deceased former UK Cheveley Park Stud stallion & 2nd-crop sire Iceman (Polar Falcon-Virtuous, by Exit To Nowhere) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when UK-bred filly Dijarvo (Iceman-Thicket, by Wolfhound) scored a 0.75-length victory in the €55,000 (A$75,000) Listed Prix La Fleche (1000m) for 2YOs at Maisons-Laffitte. Dijarvo (ridden by David Probert for trainer Tony Carroll) defeated fellow filly Ponte Vespucci (Anabaa-Porlezza, by Sicyos) & the colt Robert Le Diable (Dutch Art-Red Begonia, by Pivotal). Dijarvo was a £3,000 (A$4,600) yearling at the 2010 Doncaster Bloodstock November Sale; she now has 2 wins & 2 runners-up from 4 starts. Her sire Iceman (winner of the 2004 UK Gr2 Coventry Stakes) died as a 6YO in 2008 after standing that year at Cheveley for £5,000 (A$7,700).
