Dancing Rain Wins Gr1 English Oaks

Monday, 6th June 2011

Also in the UK, former shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) added a Gr1 triumph (& 16th individual Gr1-winner world-wide) when front-running Irish-bred daughter Dancing Rain (Danehill Dancer-Rain Flower, by Indian Ridge) scored a 0.75-length victory in the £325,000 (A$497,000) Gr1 English Oaks (12 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at Epsom Downs. Dancing Rain (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer William Haggas) defeated US-bred Wonder Of Wonders (Kingmambo-All Too Beautiful, by Sadler's Wells) & Izzi Top (Pivotal-Zee Zee Top, by Zafonic). Dancing Rain (whose dam Rain Flower is a half-sister to the 1992 Gr1 English Derby winner Dr Devious) was a €200,000 (A$274,000) yearling at Ireland’s 2009 Goffs Million Sale; overall she now has 2 wins & 2 runners-up (including May’s Listed Fillies’ Trial Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newbury) from 4 starts for £196,342 (A$300,000) earnings.
