Aust Trainer Burridge Leads Singapore Table
In Singapore, former Australian jockey-turned-trainer Steven Burridge continues to lead Kranji trainers' premiership with 29 wins (5 ahead of 6-time champion Laurie Laxon). Burridge (whose best finish in 5 previous seasons was 5th with 51 wins in 2008 commented: "I'm enjoying being at the top, that's for sure, but I'm not even thinking about the title (8 months away). You're only as good as your last winner & thankfully I've had a few in the last couple of months. I've got a very nice string of horses, but no champions. Drovetti (Mossman-Clareta, by Pauillac) is probably the best horse in my yard, but you constantly need to renew your string to be competitive." Burridge (who currently has 2 unraced horses in quarantine & 3 more waiting to come over from Australia) noted: "It's my 1st time leading the premiership & that is because I've been lucky to have leading owners & good owners to support me. They have bought new stock to replace the ones that were getting tired. That's the key to the running of any stable - young horses that are coming through."
