Gr1-Winning US Sire Siphon Sold To Brazil
US multiple Gr1-winning 19-year-old stallion Siphon (Itajara-Ebrea, by Kublai Khan) "who stands at stud in Pennsylvania (for US$3,500 at Pin Oak Lane Farm) is scheduled to be returned to his native Brazil for stallion duty at Haras Bage do Sul following the Northern Hemisphere breeding season," reported bloodhorse.com. Siphon has sired 14 stakes-winners, including US Gr1-winners Siphonic & I'm The Tiger (plus graded-stakes winners Delosvientos, Sharp Impact, Siphonizer, Siphon City & Z Fortune) for US$16.5 million progeny earnings. Brazilian Siphon (whose undefeated sire Itajara was Brazilian 1987 Horse-Of-The-Year & Triple Crown winner) won 12 races & earned US$3,136,428 in 25 starts (with 3 group victories in Brazil including the 1993 Gr1 Grande Premio Juliano Martins & later 4 graded stakes wins in the US, including the 1996 Gr1 Hollywood Gold Cup & 1997 Gr1 Santa Anita Handicap).
