Danehill Dancer Adds UK Gr2

Monday, 15th September 2008

Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) added a UK juvenile group success when Irish-bred colt colt Westphalia (Danehill Dancer-Pharapache, by Lyphard) snatched victory by a neck in the final strides of the £100,000 (A$210,000) Gr2 Champagne Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs at Doncaster. Westphalia (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated favoured colt Zacinto (Dansili-Ithaca, by Distant View) & fellow Irish-bred colt Playfellow (Kheleyf-Love And Adventure, by Halling). Last month Westphalia also won Ireland's Listed Hurricane Run Stakes (7.5 furlongs) at Tipperary & in July he finished 2nd in Ireland's Gr3 Anglesey Stakes (6 furlongs) at The Curragh. Overall Westphalia now has 3 wins & 2 runners-up from 6 starts for £105,077 (A$220,000) earnings.
