Sageburg Wins France Gr1 Prix D'Ispahan

In France overnight, Coolmore shuttler Johannesburg (Hennessy-Myth, by Ogygian) added a Gr1 triumph when Irish-bred 5YO entire Sageburg (Sadler's Wells-Remote Romance, by Irish River) scored a 2.5-lengths victory in the €250,000 (A$425,000) Gr1 Prix d'Ispahan (1850m) for 4YOs & up at Longchamp in Paris. Sageburg (ridden by Olivier Peslier for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre) defeated Princess Zahra Aga Khan's home-bred multiple Gr1-winning 4YO mare Darjina (Zamindar-Darinska, by Zilzal) & fellow Irish-bred Gr2-winning 4YO entire Loup Breton (Anabaa-Louve, by Irish River). At his previous start Sageburg finished 3rd in last month's French Gr1 Prix Ganay (2100m) at Longchamp; & last season he won France's Listed Prix Ridgway (2000m) at Deauville.
