Danehill Adds UK Gr3

Friday, 16th May 2008

Also in the UK overnight, Coolmore's ill-fated shuttler & multiple champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty) added a group success when 4YO mare Promising Lead (Danehill-Arrive, by Kahyasi) raced away for a 3.75-lengths victory in the £50,000 (A$105,000) Gr3 Middleton Stakes (10.5 furlongs) for mares 4YO & up at York. Juddmonte home-bred Promising Lead (also ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Sir Michael Stoute) defeated the 5YO mares Under The Rainbow (Fantastic Light-Farfala, by Linamix) & Irish-bred Flying Clarets (Titus Livius-Sheryl Lynn, by Miller's Mate). Last year Promising Lead (a half-sister to Visit out of a full-sister to Hasili) finished runner-up in the UK Listed Michael Seeley Memorial Fillies' Stakes at York, before winning the UK Listed Upavon Fillies Stakes (10 furlongs) against older rivals at Salisbury & then finishing a close runner-up in France's Gr1 Prix De l'Opera (2000m) also against older rivals at Longchamp.
