Natagora Wins UK Gr1 1000 Guineas

Monday, 5th May 2008

At Newmarket overnight, last season's European Champion 2YO Filly Natagora (Divine Light-Reinamixa, by Linamix) justified her favouritism in the £375,000 (A$788,000) Gr1 1000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YO fillies by leading all-the-way to score a half-length victory. French-bred & based Natagora (ridden by Christophe Lemaire for trainer Pascal Bary) defeated Spacious (Nayef-Palatial, by Green Desert) & Saoirse Abu (Mr Greeley-Out Too Late, by Future Storm). Last year Natagora won the UK Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newmarket, plus 3 successive French stakes-wins in the Gr2 Prix Robert Papin (1100m) at Maisons-Laffitte, Gr3 Gr3 Prix du Bois (1000m) at Chantilly & Listed Prix La Fleche (1000m) at Longchamp, as well as finishing runner-up in France's Gr1 Darley Prix Morny (1200m) at Deauville.
