Gone West Dam Secrettame Dead

In the US, top producer Secrettame (dam of leading sire Gone West) died aged 28 at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Kentucky "following a severe bout of colic," reported bloodhorse.com. Secrettame (Secretariat-)Tim Tam, by Tamerett) won 6 of 10 starts (including the 1983 Shirley Jones Handicap at Gulfstream Park). She retired later in 1983 & was bred to Mr Prospector: the resulting 1984 foal was Gr1 winner & subsequent star sire Gone West (now at Mill Ridge Farm in Kentucky). Gone West was England's leading broodmare sire in 2005 & his progency have topped US$3 million in earnings for the past 11 years. Overall Secrettame produced 15 foals (8 winners from 12 starters, also including Gr2-winning sire Lion Cavern, who sired recent Gr1 VRC Cadbury Guineas winner Apache Cat) for US$1,682,095 progeny earnings.
