Millions Adelaide Day-3: $340,000 General Nediym Colt

Friday, 17th March 2006

South Australian trainer Leon Macdonald out-bid fellow local conditioner Mark Kavanagh & paid the Day-3 top price (& new all-time sale record) of $340,000 for a General Nediym colt (the 1st foal from dual city-winning Marscay mare Classic Status) at yesterday's Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville. The price was also an all-time record for a yearling by boom Widden Stud stallion General Nediym (Nediym-Military Belle, by Without Fear) sold at auction in Australasia. The colt (from the family of triple Gr1 winner March Hare) was offered by Mill Park Stud (as agent for the breeders) & Macdonald enthused: "He's the nicest horse here. He's beautifully balanced & very athletic. I thought he'd make $300,000." (The previous record $330,000 was set last year for the Fusaichi Pegasus colt Tipungwuti.)
