Plagiarize Wins Kindergarten Stakes

Monday, 13th March 2006

Coolmore's NZ Cambridge Stud shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) added another juvenile group success when favoured Woodlands Stud filly Plagiarize (Stravinsky-Emulate, by Sir Tristram) made it 2 successive group victories in a fortnight since returning from a 21-week spell by again defeating the males in a decisive 3.25-lengths victory in the $100,000 Gr3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) for 2YOs at Warwick Farm. Plagiarize (ridden by Darren Beadman for trainer John Hawkes) defeated fellow filly Gold Edition (Lion Hunter-Glimmers, by Success Express) & the colt Big Joker (Show a Heart-It's A Giggle, by Rory's Jester). Plagiarize (a $300,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 2 wins (also including the International Animal Health Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill on February 25) from 3 starts for $201,875 earnings; she is a half-sister to Tapildo (who won the Gr1 NZ Oaks). Despite reportedly pulling up lame after the race, bookmakers immediately made Plagiarize favourite for Australia's premier 2YO race: the $3 million Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney on April 8.
