Jokers Wild Wins NZ Gr1 Diamond Stakes

Windsor Park Stud's dual Gr1-winning shuttler Black Minnaloushe (Storm Cat-Coral Dance, by Green Dancer) recorded his 1st Gr1 triumph when juvenile colt Jokers Wild (Black Minnaloushe-Miss Rory) gained the judge's verdict in a dramatic 5-way photo-finish to the NZ$150,000 Gr1 Ford Diamond Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Ellerslie. Jokers Wild (ridden by Michael Coleman for trainers Mike Moroney & Andrew Scott) won by a long-neck from consistent filly Chant (Traditionally-Chantenay, by Warning) with a further short-neck to fellow filly Italia (Stravinsky-Capote Crossing, by Capote); there was only another head to 4th-placed Ifionlyhadtime & a further head to 5th-placed Sheezasport. Jokers Wild (a NZ$40,000 yearling at the 2005 NZ Bloodstock Select Sale) had also won the Listed Fairview Ford Slipper over 1200m at his previous start on February 25 & before that won the Listed Gosling Chapman Juvenile over 1100m in November; he also finished runner-up in the Listed WRC Life Members Wellesley over 1000m in October.
