Duelled To Stud At Dormello

Tuesday, 7th March 2006

The 3YO colt Duelled (Redoute's Choice-Leica Pretender, by Sir Tristram) "will stand as the foundation stallion at Graeme Rogerson's new Dormello Stud near Hamilton in NZ", reported thoroughbredinternet.com. He was "last seen on the track when runner-up to Benicio in October's Gr1 Victoria Derby (2500m)" after earlier winning the Gr2 AAMI Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley & placing in both the Gr3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill & Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick. Overall Duelled (a $300,000 yearling at the 2004 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale) has 1 win & 7 placings from 13 starts for $475,180 prize-money. He is a 3/4 blood-brother to Gr1 Champion Stakes & Gr1 Victoria Derby winner Nothin' Leica Dane. Duelled was raced by a syndicate including breeders Arthur & Harry Mitchell, Duncan Grimley, Michael Sissian & Tony Hartnell, but Rogerson confirmed "he had bought out the other partners to secure the colt for stud"; he explained Duelled "suffered a tendon injury after the Victoria Derby". Duelled will stand at NZ$7,500.
