Grand Lodge Adds French Gr2

Tuesday, 4th October 2005

Also in France, ill-fated former Woodlands Stud shuttler Grand Lodge (Chief's Crown-La Papagena, by Habitat) added a French group quinella when the Aga Khan's 3YO filly Shamdala (Grand Lodge-Shamadara, by Kahyasi) won the €120,000 (A$192,000) Gr2 Prix Hubert Chaudenay (3000m) for 3YOs by a neck at Longchamp. Shamdala (ridden by Christophe Soumillon for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre) defeated fellow filly Fraloga (Grand Lodge-Fragrant Hill, by Shirley Heights) & English-visitor Without A Trace (Darshaan-Star Profile, by Sadler's Wells). Shamdala (who last start won the Gr3 Prix De Lutece over 3000m at Longchamp in early September) now has 4 wins & a placing in 6 starts.
