Kentucky Day-2: US$650,000 Giant's Causeway Colt
Coolmore Stud's primary bloodstock agent Demi O'Byrne paid US$650,000 for a Giant's Causeway colt during this morning's early action on Day-2 at the Fasig-Tipton 2-day Kentucky July Select Yearling Sale at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. The colt (already named MacArthur Causeway) is the 4th foal out of Gr2-placed Carson City mare City College; he was consigned by Idle Hour Farm (as agent for Marion Montanari) & is a half-brother to 2 winners. O'Byrne commented: "The colt has quality & he's a good mover. And he has a nice pedigree. I don't know yet where he will be sent. My guess is Europe. I thought he would make a bit more, but not much more. The dam hasn't produced a stakes horse, so I thought it was about right: I thought around US$650,000 or US$750,000."
